Frequently Asked Questions

What are UAV's?

UAV is an acronym for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. In Canada any remotely controlled aircraft, regardless of size, is considered to be a UAV when used for commercial purposes. Transport Canada regulations require that all UAV flights in Canada be conducted under a Special Flight Operation Certificate.

Are UAV's safe?

Aerial Vision is committed to the utmost safety standards, and conducts all flight operations under strict safety parameters. Every operation is planned and executed following specific safety and quality checklists to ensure all systems are operating normally. Our UAV pilots are prohibited from flying over people on the ground.

What kind of camera do we use?

Aerial Vision Uses a Zenmuse X5R for most of our aerial work (still & video). This camera provides the optimum balance of quality images and a light weight system. GoPro cameras are also utilized for action video images. A FLIR Infrared heat sensing camera are used for search and rescue or gas leak applications.

How high can you fly?

The aircraft is capable of altitudes in excess of 5000 feet. Aerial Vision makes sure we stick to Canada's by laws and guidlines for UAV's,which can vary in certain areas. See Transport Canada for further information.

Is Your UAV's affected by weather?

As with any outdoor activity, weather is a significant factor, even more so when flying is involved. For safety, as well as quality reasons, we cannot fly in: - winds above 70kph, - Low visibility (fog etc.), - heavy rain or snow, - temperatures below minus 10degrees. With that said, due to our state of the art equipment, our UAV's are water resistant and can fly in rain or snow for short periods of time. i.e. 1 hour at a time.

Can you fly indoors?

YES, in a large unobstructed area,( arenas, auditoriums ect.). There cannot be any people near or under the aircraft less than two meters in distance.

Are you insured?

Yes. Aerial Vision has a $1,000,000 liability coverage. This ensures the preservation of our equipment and footage if damaged or lost.

Can I hire you to spy on people?

NO. Aerial Vision Will NOT fly over private property without the permission of the owner / occupier, or their agent. These acts are illegal and will be reported to the neccassary authority.
